Will they remember?

The kids have forever changed the way I think of certain Bible stories because of the way they re-enact them.  I wonder if they will remember doing this when they're older.  If not, I'll show them the pictures:).  Here are a few from the story of Balaam and his donkey.  Starring:
 Caleb as Balaam
 Elyssia as the donkey
Garrison as the Angel standing in the way
Scott as the narrator
Kiersten as the cute accessory to some of the pictures:).

Here are the pictures, which I will share funny facts about:

Caleb put himself in the pet carrier.  I didn't know donkeys came in such a small size:)

Here I tum!

Super cutie!

Before Caleb got on, he said, "I can't I'm stinky!"  This pic is AFTER the diaper change.

Caleb spanking the donkey for not going where he told her to.(Part of the Bible story).

The angel standing in the way.

Trying to come a different way.

Balaam going to beat the donkey after it laid down on him(according to the Bible story).

Garrison aka angel, pouting because he doesn't get to use his sword on anyone.(not part of the Bible story)

Caleb "amazed" after he saw the angel!

Falling on his face and asking forgiveness for his sin.

I have to say that Caleb had way too much fun beating the donkey.  I think he was like, "huh, I'm actually allowed to whack my sister?"  It was with a bookmark and really didn't hurt Elyssia. She was laughing so hard, it was hard to get a decent picture.
After a seriously crazy day, it was good to laugh at the kids.  We're now clear to get out of the driveway and Scott heads back to work tomorrow.  The kids did finish all their schoolwork and wrote a couple interesting story.  I'll have to save Elyssia's to post sometime on a slow "news" day.  Other than that, we were kinda tired.  The kids were a bit cranky when they weren't digging out their snow cave, but seemed to perk up at the end of the evening.  Elyssia had the idea  to have Sam help dig the cave.  She brought a treat and buried it in the back of the cave.  Unfortunately, Sam only dug long enough to retrieve the treat and head out to eat it:).  We thought it was a good idea though.
For supper I made beef enchiladas.  After a meager lunch, I was starving and probably ate way too quickly.  The kids ate ALL of theirs, including Kiersten, who seems to be a little picky. She seems to really enjoy different ethnic foods, but sometimes sticks her nose up at some of the regular fare.  We're working on it:).  She is pretty easy to feed at breakfast time.  She LOVES Shreddies, Mini Wheats, Cheerios and Oatmeal Crisp.  For hot meals, she likes eggs, toast, pancakes and bannock.  It seems to be lunch and supper that I have to be more creative with her.  She seems to have regained what she lost with the flu, so that is something to be thankful for.
So, that wrap up another crazy, fun-filled day at the Holloway House! We have a tour of the Amazon to view, so I'd better sign off for now.  Til next time...

  1. I think that they will remember it. Especially Elyssia at this point, the others will later.

  2. Your kids will remember. I have so enjoyed reading about the enactments of the Bible stories, and think that people should do this kind of thing in Sunday School as well - it would seriously get the kids thinking about the story, plus get them involved in a more interesting way than colouring or whatever that they can do any day of the week! I think you're on to something, Meleah!!
