Our actions DO affect others.

Tonight we learned of the battle at Ai.  We learned how they spied out the city and felt that they could easily defeat it, especially since it was so small compared to Jericho.  There was only one problem.  Someone had sinned and taken some things when God said not to.  36 men lost their lives because of the sin of one man. I will tell the rest of the story through the pictures.

Achan took a Babylonian garment,

some silver,

and gold.

Then he hid it in the ground under his tent.

The city of Ai.  Looks like Jericho. only smaller.

Kiersten makes an appearance:).

Garrison defends Ai and chases off  the soldiers.

Joshua asking God why they lost the battle.

Garrison getting his lot(used to judge who was guilty.

Elyssia gets her lot.

Caleb put his lot in his mouth!  Wonder where he learned that...

Scott aka Achan gets the short lot.

He is stoned for his sin.

A miserable end for Achan.  A good reminder to think of others when we have a choice between doing right or wrong!
So, that brings us to the end of our evening.  There are 3 kids in bed right now and one more headed that way.  We had a very interesting day, that we finished off with homemade pizza and ice cream.  I was blessed to talk to a friend today.  Things had gotten busy and I suddenly realized that our last conversation was about 2 months ago.  It was nice to catch up. I  also had a bit of time today and tried to paint a picture for Garrison.  He wanted me to paint him a boat, but not a specific kind.  Here is my first attempt:

You win some and you lose some:). I think that I will try again.  Maybe more of a steamboat or a ferry.  At first he asked for a plane picture.  I think planes might be easier than boats, but I have to try painting one to find out.  Part of the fun is the trying.  Til next time...
