Who wants to come rescue us?

So, the snow just keeps falling.  We had to cancel our appt. this morning because the snow plow hadn't come by to clear the road.  Scott called them and found out that one of their snowplows broke.  They don't know when they can get over here.  We just might end up having him home for the next day or two.  If you look beyond the end of our driveway, it's like a big blanket of snow that extends as far as the eye can see.  Here are pics of the kids ready to go to town.  I figured that somebody should see them, since they were so excited:)

She picked the scarf and tied it herself.

Ready?

Yes!

Guess he loves hats:)

Baby needs a face wash.  Looks like she has a handlebar moustache:)

Tonight the devotions were on the battle of Jericho.  Caleb and Garrison were trying to knock down the walls ahead of time.  Caleb also snuck inside during the march.  Like I've said before, those boys like to keep things interesting:)

Setting up Jericho(The walls in Bible times were tall and strong, not something that we could recreate for this.)

The soldiers waiting to march.

Rahab and her family:)  waiting to be rescued once the walls fell.  Notice the scarlet thread behind her.

The walls are down.  Rahab and her family escape while the soldiers move in to take out those in the city.

Kiersten wanted to be a soldier too.

Garrison wanted to do it again, but this time he was on the inside.
Caleb was talking to Garrison before they started marching.  He told him, "you're a BIG priest, but I'm just a yiddle priest."  Some of his little boy sayings are disappearing, but some of them are still cute:).  I was trying to have him say the "l" sound the other day.  He can do it every once in awhile, but I can see that his tongue has a hard time with it.
Tonight was catch up on the house cleaning time. I spent most of the morning getting everyone ready for the trip to town that never happened.  I'd packed a lunch, so we didn't have to do much when lunch time came at home.  Everyone, except Elyssia took a bit of a nap and more snow fell while we were sleeping.  The biggest thing that we accomplished was planning the route that we're going to take to Georgia.  We have established the stops and in the next couple weeks, we'll work on picking fun things to do with the kids when we do stop.  We found some already, but we'll study it out a bit more and fine tune the details.  We're considering taking a bit of a different route on the way home.  It would take us through at least one new state, but we'll have to see what the time difference would be compared to the one we take heading there.  We're getting pretty excited, even though it's still quite a ways off.  The time goes so quickly now that I'm sure it'll be here before we know it.
I started writing this around 6 tonight.  I'm now done cleaning and the kids are all asleep, including Scott:)  Guess I'll head off to read my last book from the library and try to make it an early night.  Busy school day tomorrow and hopefully things will warm up enough to go play outside for awhile.

  1. I don't know if you need rescuing - it sounds like fun times at the Holloway House when you're snowed in!

One question: who got to clean up the rubble of the city after the walls of Jericho came down?!

  2. Thankfully it was a team effort:).
