Colds got ya down?

Not us, we're as crazy as we ever were:).  Elyssia woke up sounding just awful this morning, which was the first indication that she was sick.  She moaned and groaned, but as we started the day, things returned to a mostly happy state.  Our first order of the day was breakfast.  I made the GF cereal again, to avoid needing milk and the congestion it would bring.  Scott wanted bannock and here are a couple funny things that came of it:
Is this like the man in the moon?

The kids asked why it was called Sea Lion Caves.
Here's our totally fictitious idea about why it's called that.  There are so many sea lions that they put them in the caves with the huckleberries and force them to roll on it and squish it into jam. Doesn't sound too appetizing does it:)  It's also frowned upon by the animal activists, even though the sea lions get more than their fair share of the fish. Anyone else want to take a stab at inventing a story about it?  We could put it in a future post:).
Soooo, on to the next portion of our day.  A craft was desired and this is what we did:
Rock painting!

Really cool pic of Garrison before we closed the blinds.

Caleb did green and to me it looked like a frog, so I outlined it for him.

Garrison wanted a fish, he did the awesome red paint and all the color splotches:).

I got one of the smaller rocks and here's my entry.
Then we had some excitement!  Something very special came to our house.  Who needs field trips when they come right to your door in the country?
The propane truck came!
It was a good thing they didn't come this afternoon.  Scott talked to the man and even though Scott had specified to only put in a certain amount, he hadn't been notified and would have filled the tank like last year, leaving us to foot the bill.  Thankfully, we were able to work out the last one and only pay the summer propane rate for the amount that they put in over what we'd asked.  It seems like it takes 6 months to fully resolve any issues that we have with them.  We kinda think they should change their name to something other than SUPERIOR:))).

There were two Kiersten sightings:
The excitement of the day was just too much:).

Yep!  I found her on Aisle 2!  She's mine now and you can't have her:))).

We didn't do as much school today, due to the little ones voices being a bit rough.  I did have them do a little bit and then they wanted to make up stories,  I think all 3 are worth sharing today:).

                                                      "George The Lego Man"
                                                          By: Elyssia Holloway

George, the Lego man, lived in Moose Jaw.  He was only a couple inches tall.  He had trouble getting around. He was always scared of being stepped on.  He decided to go to the beach.  It was scary there too.  He kept falling into the sand.  One day he found 3 seashells.  He put 2 on his feet, like snow shoes, and the third one on his head, for a cap.  He found the beach was lots of fun.  He was sad when it was time to go back to the city.  The next day he decided to move to the beach.  He lived there forever!

The inspiration for the story.

                                                     "The Giant Garrison"
                                                   By: Garrison Holloway

I was riding on a plane to South America.  I was going to draw pictures of Llamas. When the plane landed, I rode in a tow truck because if I rode in a regular car, the tires would go flat, cause I'm so big. My secret is that I'm a giant.  I'm 10 feet tall.  I hold lots and lots of food in my belly.  My favorite food is lollipops and corn. I found a Llama in South America.  I got to ride the Llama and he didn't break because he was as tall as me!  I got to ride on a giant horse too.  I went home after that cause I'd had enough of an adventure.  I like South America!
                                                   ...The End...

                                                       "Fingerpaint"
                                                   By: Caleb Holloway

I fingerpainted on a rock.  I used green.  It was a frog.  A poison one!  He bit me and I kicked him with my boot.  He fell in the water.  He didn't see me ever again.  I runned away to my house.  I closed the door.  THEN A SEA MONSTER CAME and opened my door...  I KICKED him with my boot and he ran away.  He falled in the water too!
                                                        ~ The End~
***note*** We're really not sure what the moral of this story is.  Caleb has an interesting imagination.

After lunch and a VERY short nap, we headed to town for our appointments.  I have to say that what we found out at the lawyers office was quite shocking.  He told us that as far as custody goes for the kids, we can put whoever we want in our will, but if the courts think it's in the best interest of the children, they can place them with someone else.  He said that they like to use their power and it really seems like they've been given too much authority.  Since when does a will, that we have to pay to have certified not mean anything?  Is this only in Canada, or is this true in the States as well? I'd really like to know.  He said that if we passed away a couple months after making it, that they'd probably honor our wishes, but after that it's not so certain.  I'm not going to worry about this, but we were really surprised to be told such things.
After that we went over to get the mail.  Nothing exciting there, right?  Wrong, on the way back to the van I slipped on ice on the sidewalk and fell pretty hard. I was thankful for two things: One that I was wearing my thickest coat, because I think I might have broken my arm if I hadn't been.  Two, was that there wasn't anybody around me watching:).  After that, Scott had a dentist appt.  He was having his temp filling checked because he thought he might need more done.  They couldn't find any problem with the tooth or the root, but they'll have him come back next week to have someone else look at it, free of charge.  Pretty good, eh?  I was thinking, they might just be having him back so that they could charge him more, but then he told me there would be no charge, unless they ended up doing a root canal or something.
Now for the exciting devotions... I think tonight was the funniest so far.  I was laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face.  Scott was trying to get them to return to following the Bible story, but it was like a runaway train.  My laughter didn't help at all.  So, here's the devotion, with all the add lib...
Caleb-looking pretty good for an 85 yr old.

G-Joshua declaring that Elyssia is HIS wife, not Caleb's.  (she obviously didn't read Joshua 24:15) She declared that she was Caleb's wife.  Caleb refused to be married to her:)

The HAPPY couple?(This kinda reminds me of the Humperdink scene on the Princess Bride:)  Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Caleb telling Elyssia that he would not be her husband and to get away from him!

Garrison challenged Caleb to a duel, for apparently trying to take his wife. Poor Caleb, he didn't even want her and now he's having to face the sword because of a jealous husband...

Garrison saying, "nooooooo".

Now, back to the story.  Daddy is the giant of Hebron.

Caleb declares, "I'm 85, but I'm as strong as I ever was-Give me this Mountain" all true to the Bible story. Then he and Joshua defeat the giant and stand on the mountain.

Caleb has the giant's sword and is declaring, "This is MY mountain".
So, if you're ever in need of some laughter, come on over sometime around 6:30.  These kids are full of it.  Can you see now why we thought it best not to have them do some sort of Christmas play?  It would have been funny, but full of ad lib and possible beatings.  Not exactly what you want people to remember about your Christmas Eve service, eh?. So, yet another epic day has come to an end.  4 adorably crazy munchkins are in their beds and things are quiet at last.  You know what?  We wouldn't like it any other way.  We love them and they love us. For better or for worse, we're together for as long as the Lord allows.  Til next time...
