Did you know that you can cut yourself on a candy cane? I never would've thought it possible until today. I was trying to break a little piece of for Kiersten. It broke and sliced two of my fingers pretty good. I now know that it's possible.
It's still snowing outside. Elyssia and Scott ventured out once to feed the cats in the shed. Elyssia thought it was a grand adventure.Scott also spent at least an hour trying to dig the car and the van out of the snow. He got them turned around and we're praying that we can get out of the yard and to the church tomorrow. Seems like forever since we've gotten to go, even though the kids and I just missed one Sunday with the flu.
Most of today was spent cleaning and trying to stay warm. We have a bit of snow drifting under one of the doors, but a towel has mostly stopped it. It's amazing how the cold manages to seep in through the windows. Thankfully most of the windows are newer and don't allow big drafts. The door in our room was actually making a whistling noise because of all the wind. It was kinda cool, but kinda strange at the same time. It makes me think of The Secret Garden. The wind on the moors and how it sounded. We had lots of wind on the island growing up, but the snow coming with it was rare.
The evening was spent on the phone with a friend I hadn't talked to in almost a year. I'm getting really bad about keeping up with people phone-wise and think it needs to be on my New Year's Resolutions list, if I had one, that is:). Make the effort to talk to friends and family at least once a month. The list is pretty long when I think about it, but worth it to stay in touch with those the Lord has placed in my life at different ages and stages.
Ladies Meeting is coming up this Monday night. Looking forward to a great time of fellowship and studying another woman in the Bible. I won't say who, in case one of the ladies is reading this. I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise:))). Well, that about wraps it up for us today. Scott is busy talking to his parents and I've got some little munchkins ready to head to bed. Their day has been filled with reading, crafts, and making smoothies. Another crazy day at the Holloway House!
