What a day!

Yesterday was THE BIG DAY! I met Shirley in town right about 9am and our whirlwind trip went right til midnight! We got to Saskatoon around lunchtime and I was able to satisfy a craving for chicken fajitas(that I didn't make:). They were quite good and all my inlaws will be pleased to hear that I finished just about every bite of the tomatoes that they included with the fajita platter. Managed to keep it down all day, with some prayer:). We did a couple of errands and headed over to pick up mom. I went in expecting to be in and out rather quickly, but COULDN'T FIND HER! All the people came out of the international arrivals door and I asked the attendants if there were anymore people coming. They said everyone was out... I ended up walking all the way down to the end of the airport(which really isn't too far) and tried to find a Delta person. There were none to be found. I asked a lady to borrow a phone and tried to call mom's cell, etc... No answer. I finally headed back down and who did I meet on the way? Mom was walking towards me. It turns out that she'd been behind those doors after all, trying to find out why her baggage didn't arrive with the plane! This is the second time in a row that the airline has lost her suitcase on a trip to Canada. Not cool... So, I was thankful to have found my mom, but slightly out of sorts with the loss of luggage.

We headed off after they promised that they would have it delivered to Kindersley on Saturday evening. There were quite a few errands to run and a stop for supper. Mom had to pick up some necessities, which included a light jacket to shield her from the wind and drizzle that she flew into when she arrived here. By the time we got home and went to bed it was WAY past my bed time! PRAISING the LORD that I didn't end up throwing up after all the extra activity. It was definitely a close one, but we're still okay.

Today started off with lots of excitement as the kids woke up and could hardly wait for Grandma to wake up too! They didn't have to wait too long and there wasn't a shy one in the bunch:). Ada recognized the nice smiley Grandma that waves at her on Skype every so often:))). They enjoyed reading books and snuggling and some naptimes. The day has passed fairly quickly with it being VERY windy and some heavy rain.

Unfortunately the airline dropped the ball again by not putting mom's suitcase on the bus to Kindersley. After several phone calls a lady from Delta said that she would try to get someone to drive it out by 9 tonight. So, another trip to town, hopefully, and then a more settled state of affairs for the rest of her visit. It would be a great blessing if the rest of the trip went a lot more smoothly.

Super busy day tomorrow with Father's Day, service at the Manor in the afternoon, milking Trudy, evening service and a farewell party for the Nickersons after church. Sad to see them go, but wishing them well as they head back to Nova Scotia. Scott will be driving them to Calgary early Monday morning... So, praying for energy to get through tomorrow and make some good memories:).

Happy Father's Day to all those wonderful Fathers out there!

Grandma's coming!!!

The long awaited visit of my mom is almost upon us! It's been 2 years and about 3 months since we were in Georgia and had a real visit with her. Amazing how quickly that time has gone and how much has happened around here. It'll be interesting to see how quickly Addie adjusts to her. She loves to wave at her on Skype, but it'll be her first time to "meet" Grandma Prisk.
Thankfully a friend is driving me to Saskatoon to pick her up. Combining the tiredness, nausea and overstimulation of the city driving probably wouldn't be a safe combination for me right now. SOOOO thankful that I haven't thrown up yet! Praising the Lord for answered prayers and asking for a double portion of energy tomorrow:). We're going to try to do a couple of special things after we pick her up and I'll need it for walking around, etc... Celebrating my 31st Birthday 4 days early and for the first time in Saskatoon. I'm hoping to get some chicken fajitas:).
I've been missing the battery charger for my regular camera for about 2 months now, thus a lack of pictures. I've posted some from my cell, but it's just not the same. Hoping to find it soon because I don't want to buy a new one. Doing one more big search as I'm cleaning the house, so extra prayers for that would be appreciated:).

Happy Thursday!

Overstimulated...

I think that word accurately describes my condition today. Have any of you ever been REALLY REALLY hungry? I can't really say that I have beeen, but I kind of felt a small taste of it this morning. Blood tests for the pregnancy called for an 8 hour fast, which ended up being over 12 by the time I got to eat something. I left the house just as the rest of the family sat down to the usual Monday morning Pancake breakfast. I was hoping it would be a quick in and out at the hospital, but I think it was about an hour before I was done. Thankfully I didn't faint or anything. Just felt quite nauseous by the time it was done. I have to say that I truly believe that the Lord helped me through the rest of the day. It was a close one on the drive to the grocery store. I stopped for a bite to eat, but only managed a couple bites of egg and bacon before I knew I had to stop.
The big grocery shopping day is always quite the event. I feel very blessed that Scott kept the kids at home so I could just focus on that, take my time and get home when it was finished. I'm usually done in a little less than an hour, but today was more like an hour and a half. Looking, passing on because the smells were too much. Wish I took a picture of my cart at the end because it was bulging over on all sides:). I had to make a second trip back in to finish bagging:)). There was a lady behind me when the wipes box fell out of the cart and the diaper box ripped halfway to the van:). That's what makes the memories, eh? She was very kind and helped carry it to the van. The kids were super excited to see that we had LOTS of food in the house again. Going a couple days without fruit is like torture for them. If only they realized how blessed they are to have it as often as they do!
The afternoon found Scott riding the lawnmower with each of the kids taking a turn riding on his lap. There was some fun as they chased Caleb, who was riding his bike. I have to say that Scott has a great "chaser face":).
After the groceries were all put away I was more than happy to lay with Kiersten for her nap time. I think it's quickly becoming my favorite part of the day for now. Dinner was delicious for once:). During this time there is a lot that really doesn't taste good or sit well, so it's nice to have a good memory for tonight. Baked salmon with rice and green beans. There were a couple children that weren't that fond of salmon, so Scott and I were more than happy to help them out:))).
The evening finds the children outside, which is wonderful for trying to get the stomach settled. Scott has been transplanting the herbs into the front planter boxes and just enjoying the beautiful weather. Thank you Lord for blessing us with, and seeing us through, another beautiful day.

Our little announcement:)

It's amazing, but I think we're just as excited about baby #6 as we were when we found out we were expecting our first! Lots of excitement, especially with the siblings. Wondering whether it's a boy or a girl, but obviously knowing that it is one or the other:). Having the fun of talking about names. Thinking about whether this one will look more like Scott or myself. Loving the creativity that the Lord uses throughout all of HIS Creation! Wondering whether we'll tell the ultrasound tech that we want to find out what it is at delivery and not caving from the extreme curiosity:). Praising the Lord for each day that I'm not throwing up and still able to be up and about with Scott and the children. Thankful for the kindness of friends in giving us meals already! Our cup is full and running over. Thank you Lord!!! Looking forward to welcoming this little one shortly after Christmas.
