Although Monday was my biggest day for activities I seem to really be dragging today. Some of it can be attributed to 4 little munchkins that seem to find their way into our bed in the middle of the night. Suddenly the queen size bed seems way too small! I know that some day they will get to big for this, but right now my brain is telling me that I can't continue on this little bit of sleep. The extra weight of a child laying on my legs = extra warmth, but also leg cramps... Last night Kiersten's nose started running so she was pretty much nursing all night to relieve the stuffiness. A nap would have been nice, but somehow the boys ended up acting all crazy and thought they didn't need to sleep. Caleb fell asleep on his floor about 20 minutes ago. Hoping he will just sleep through the night now. Probably just dreaming though:).
On another note, the sun is shining!!! It's a beautiful day and I think it's only -4. After the extremely cold temperatures it's feeling pretty good. Maybe it'll continue for a couple days. It would be nice to get out and play.
The playdate on Monday went quite well. The kids played together and only clashed when Micah tried to take over Kiersten. He was telling Garrison to get away from her and Garrison took offense to that. Demanding that Kiersten was his sister and he would take her! It was good to see Garrison looking out for his little sister. After I dropped Mandy and Micah off I drove to town to do some Christmas shopping and get the groceries. It took me several hours, but I'm thankful that Scott was able to be at home and that he was generous enough to give me the afternoon to look around slowly.
I've written our Christmas letter, but still need to print it off. The pictures are printed off, so I'll have to work on addresses. Hopefully it will arrive around Christmas time, but a New Year's letter is nice too:).
I did some Christmas baking, but on a smaller scale compared to last year. We'll be away for the week after Christmas, so we really don't need as much. Plus there's not the freezer space until we replace the broken one. I was also trying to cut back on the spending since we're saving up for Georgia. Everything looks good for that trip. Just waiting on the passports for Garrison and myself. The kids have been so excited for the past couple months that every 2 weeks or so I find a bag packed with clothes, toys and books that they've gotten ready for the trip:). I hope they're still excited when we get to day 4 of driving:). We've broken up the trip pretty good though and will only spend about 8 hours driving each day. We'll do some of it while they're sleeping, so technically they'll only be awake for about 4 hours of the drive each day. The rest of the day will be exploring the places that we stop at.
School for Elyssia is either right on schedule or way ahead of schedule depending on how we look at it. If she continued to work at the same pace with no breaks she'd finish most of her books in February. I'm not sure that she's getting some of the math concepts though, so I think we're going to slow down and do some drills and review. Some days are fun, some are frustrating and some are a learning experience. It seems like this year will be a learning experience for all of us. Eliminating things that are unnecessary and adding things that we missed this year. All in all, I think it's been a good experience so far and the older two have far surpassed our expectations in many areas. I was thinking that Garrison might have to repeat the ABC's book, but the way he's going he might be reading all my himself in the next couple months:)
Well, the little one is crying again. Better head out and fix some supper too! Looking forward to bedtime.......
