Boys dishwashing = A new pink cell phone for this mama!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy having the boys help with cleanup, but this week Caleb took his helping a little too far. Scott saw him just as he was dropping my "free with contract" cell phone into the soap suds. He pulled it out quickly. Opened it up dried it the best he could. When he tried it, the phone came on, but the next day nothing. Just like Caleb drowned his toast in the bathroom, he managed to drown my cell phone... I've heard many people talk about phone mishaps and I thought that our phone company might provide a new one, since we're paying for a 3 year contract and mine was less than a year old. Boy was I wrong!
Sales person: The cheapest phone we have is $70.
Me: Can I just take my name off the cell plan, since we added it after Scott signed the initial contract? Mine was just an added $15 a month. Paying $15 when you don't have a cell phone seems silly.
Sales person: No, you'd have to pay a lot for canceling your part of the plan.
Me: Let me call my husband...
Scott: Get a new one.
Me: Okay, but if Santa really did exist Caleb would've been on his naughty list this year for all the things he's broken THIS MONTH!
God(in my head): Forgive
Me: Do you have any phones like the one I ruined.
Sales Person: None like that and the closest one is $90
Me: I guess I'll take the pink on, but it's kind of a weird shape. Square instead of rectangle.
Sales Person: That will be a total of $102 after the hook up fee.
Me: Okay, but inside I'll admit that I was about ready to cry.

Now, the day has passed. My daughter thinks I have the coolest phone ever and wanted to borrow it when she went to church today. Just in case she needed to ask me something. Me, "No way!" I'm having a true day of rest with the two young ones. Caleb and Kiersten have colds. It has slowed down the activity and allowed me to spend some extra one on one time with Caleb. I love how God works that out. A little frustration turns to a lot of love when God helps you to forgive and I have to say again, "God knew what he was doing when he made the mischief makers so charming."
