Should we change our last name?

Hmmm, probably wondering why we'd want to do that, eh?  Holloway is such a nice name:)  Well, I was thinking something more like the Hollowlegs or Hollowstomachs, which seem to depict this family lately.  I can't remember how my appetite was when I was their age, but it seems so abnormal.  Yes, they're very active and seem to have Scott's metabolism, but if they eat this much at this age, what happens when they're teenagers?  I think we probably filled up on all the free bread from the day old bread store growing up.  It probably saved my parents thousands of dollars.  A loaf of bread up here costs between 3 and 5 dollars, unless I find it in the half price bin and it doesn't last long around here.  Homemade bread is eaten even faster.  So, I thought, let's try changing a couple things.  I have to say that after a couple days I think that they are HUNGRIER than before.  Not a good sign:).  So, today I'm sending them outside in hopes of distracting them from their continual pleas for more food.  It's a beautiful day and has been like this for a little over a week, with a few cloudy skies, but mostly sun.  Kinda feels like Spring, instead of Fall.  There is a reminder each evening of the season though when the temps drop close to or below freezing.

Relaxing and enjoying the ride!
NEW FIGHTING STRATEGY:  Only one simple rule.  If you fight with a sibling over one of the hundreds of books in our house the momma will take the two squabblers, put them in a room together and close the door behind her.  I tried it with Garrison and Caleb yesterday and it was one of the quietest parts of the day.  Today it was Elyssia and Caleb and the Garrison and Caleb.  They seem to come out kinder than they go in.  We've tried correcting them, making them apologize and give a hug, but the last two steps were often so insincere at times that I wondered how much good it was really doing.  I tell them before I close the door that they need to learn to get along with one another and work things out.  After they come out we talk about loving our neighbor and how their sibling is their closest neighbor.  That sometimes they may see their sibling as their enemy, but God tells us to pray for our enemies.  It seems to be working.  I'm not saying that it's the answer for every situation, because I'm sure it's not, but I'm praying that it will cause them to think before arguing over something that doesn't last for eternity.  Garrison loves to tell us that everything's just going to burn up after God comes back anyway.  Not sure if that's a good way of looking at things, but we try to remind them that the only thing we can take with us is siblings, friends, family, neighbors and any others that get saved.  Some days it's still one of the craziest places on earth, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! Above I  posted one of Caleb's adventures with Kiersten.  They put hay in their wagon and call it their hay ride.  This time Kiersten is going for a hayride IN THE HOUSE:). I wanted the pics at the end of the blog post, but I still haven't figured out all the quirks of this blog posting:)

We're on a roll...

Unfortunately, it's not a good roll.  This morning Caleb crawled into bed with us and proceeded to throw up.  I do recall mentioning that our bed seems to be a magnet for sick children.  So, Kiersten's birthday started off with a bang.  She did enjoy pulling the tissue paper out of her presents though:)  The camera is at the church, so we'll take pictures of her with her presents and cake when Scott gets home.  With Caleb sick, we decided that it would be best for me to keep the younger two and Scott would take the others with him.  Praying that they behaved themselves!  I think that the funniest thing that happened this morning was when Kiersten was opening her gifts from Elyssia and Garrison.  Garrison gave her a pet shop(that was his:) and I praised him for being such a nice brother.  He replied, "That's okay, I thought it was ugly, so she can have it."  Many of you may be thinking that it's not a very nice thing to do and say, but his honesty was refreshing and gave us some much needed laughter.  After Scott left I put Kiersten down for her nap and put Caleb in the bath.  He's been sleeping ever since I took him out and Kiersten just woke up.  Unfortunately she's VERY hot, which is what Garrison and Caleb's flu started out with.  I'm REALLY hoping that Kiersten doesn't have it, but if she does that it passes quickly.  What a day.  Oh, it's only half over:)  Lots left to do and still lots to be thankful for! Kiersten is very happy, even though she feels like she's got a pretty good fever going on.  Praying it stays that way!  She's having a memorable first birthday though.  I should write some of this down in her baby book:) I'll post pics of the birthday girl, presents and the ice cream cake later. I'm thinking God knew we'd be needing a cold cake to soothe the little ones.
