Baking and Bible College

Elyssia is a month shy of 12 and a half. The past 5 months, especially, have been an amazing time of growth and transformation for her. She is maturing so quickly and turning into a young lady. Dolls have been set aside. Care is taken in getting ready for the day. Baking and cooking have suddenly become more interesting. Praise the Lord! I'm always thankful for extra helpers:). Yesterday I took Caleb in for an early Birthday lunch. I came home to find that she had freshly baked Blueberry Muffins waiting for us as a surprise. It was a wonderful blessing!

She also started talking about going to Bible College when she's old enough. She will start 8th grade in September, but it hardly seems possible that so much time has gone by. We thank the Lord for each and every year that He has allowed us to epend with her. Never wanting to take those years for granted. Many are not given so many years with their child and we want to thank the Lord for them, realizing that He is the one that makes our every breath possible. Acknowledging that he has created her, loves her and has a specific plan and purpose for her.

Just last week she said she felt like the Lord wanted her to surrender her life to Him. This is definitely the Lord working in her life. She has been committing more time to prayer and Bible reading and it's a blessing to thee the work that the Lord is doing in her heart. Yes, she still has the same girlish desires and thoughts as many others her age and we encourage her to enjoy her "youthful years". This path that she is walking with the Lord is one that she is seeking after as He leads her through preaching and reading her Bible. It's amazing to see her personal relationship with Jesus growing day by day.

Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.

Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow’r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.

Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till with Christ the Lord I stand.
